The company developed different business: Gabriele Mazzotta Editore, the publishing house created in 1988, publishes books and catalogues regarding the principal art movements of the twentieth century history, current events, psychology, architecture, cinema, and then photography, graphics and illustration, as well as books for children.

Fondazione Antonio Mazzotta, created in 1994, is an institution with the objective of promoting knowledge of the plastic and figurative arts through the organization of temporary exhibitions, conferences, seminars and cultural events.

In 1996 Leonardo Rotatori starts to work with Gabriele Mazzottain the organisation of exhibitions, becoming in 2005 CEO of a new company: Mazzotta Art Selection, involved in publishing special art and multiple editions and in promoting contemporary artist (not only Italian) through the art gallery Spazio Mazzotta.

Furthermore, the Mazzotta Art Selectionis totally committed to a continuous dialogue with both established and up-and-coming artists in an ever-wider cultural context, focusing on special international project with foreign art galleries. All these activities proceed in parallel: in particular, the attention is always focused on organizing exhibitions, with over three hundred staged to date.

 

AWARDS

These are the awards that have recognized the quality and value of the work of a company that regards art and culture in general to be the most important heritage of the social life of every nation. In 1995 the Foundation received the prestigious recognition of the commission of the "European Museum of the Year Award", an institution of the Council of Europe; for "the exceptional quality of the exhibition space, which undoubtedly will have profound and decisive influence on the situation of museums in Italy", and for "the success of the efforts directed toward reinforcing international cooperation in the field of art exhibition". In 1999 the President of the French Republic named MazzottaChevalier de l' Ordre National du Mérit.

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded Mazzotta the

Bundesverdienstkreuz I Klassein 2003, in "recognition for services effected for many years for the promotion of Italo-German cultural relations"

The City of Milan awarded Mazzotta in 2003 the Medaglia d'oro per la cultura(Gold Medal for Culture), with the motivation: "Aclear example of cultural independence at the service of the civil growth of the nation." The President of the Republic of Austria awarded Gabriele Mazzotta the Ehrenkreutz für Wissenschaft und Kunst(Knight's Cross of the Order of the Arts and Sciences) in 2005.
